The growing your own section, has now become my OCD passion. I thought long and hard about this and it has been a labour of love, passion, sweat, blood (I rather stupidly ended up in A &E after drilling through my thumb) and research.
The whole purpose of the heritage allotment coral was to set up an easily manageable space to grow a variety of fruit and vegetables, that are either heritage (ie not F1, which means modified by selective breeding in some way and somewhat rarer in nature) or native to the UK. Both if possible!
Some of the trees on the allotment, people may never have heard of, let alone seen, and some date back to the 1400’s. I have built a few useful structures on the allotment and have put up the designs so money can be saved, where possible.
It is a trade off of time verses money in some cases, but having a young daughter, my own business and a life in general, saving money was my primary concern at first. I have developed it over a period of years, again due to time and money, but the initial design was there from the beginning. I have a couple of minor changes, but, at the start of this I was a complete numpty when it came to planting, so I have learnt on the job and experimented continuously, so, please learn from my mistakes as it will make your life easier and your produce far more abundant.
